Altoona

On Mother’s Day, I preached at our sending church in Altoona, Iowa.  We looked at the encouragement for mothers in Ruth.  Then in the evening, the children from each of the Sunday School classes stood in the front of the church and thanked and honored their mothers by singing and reading poems.  After church on Sunday night, we met with the deacon board and the missionary committee so they could hear our future plans in the ministry of missionary evangelism.  Please pray for us as we seek God’s direction and the need for more financial support.

NorwoodvilleOn May 5, 2013 we spent two weeks parked at Norwoodville Baptist Church in the Des Moines, Iowa area.  For Sunday I preached for both services and presented our ministry in the evening.  After service Sunday night we all moved downstairs for a time of fellowship and food.

This church has allowed us the use of a room for storage for the past 15 years.  We used this week to organize our trailer and move extra books and decorations that we will not need during the summer.  Jane also brought next year’s school books into the trailer.  But since we are still finishing this year’s school, we will have both set of books during the summer.

During the week we not only finished up the work in storage,  but we also searched for a car that we can use in our project in New Mexico and teach Caleb how to drive.  Please pray for us as we get ready for our summer ministry.  We have eight daily Vacation Bible schools and one family camp in Lowpoint, Illinois.

WinslowAz01Our last meeting in Arizona this year was held April 28 in Winslow just 60 miles east of Flagstaff on I-40.  Pastor John Woods wanted me to have an all family Sunday School class with ventriloquism and object lessons.  For Sunday morning service, I preached out of Isaiah 53 to remind the saints of what Jesus did for us and to encourage the lost to trust in Christ’s atonement for our sin.  We ended our meetings with a message from John chapter 4 on the Missionary from Sychar.   It was a joy to see lots of new people now coming to Valley Baptist.  Pastor John and his wife Diane have seen several trust Christ as their Savior and be baptized in the last few months.  Please pray for others that still need to respond to the Gospel.

Pastor John’s son Johnnie is now in Illinois in basic training in the Navy.  In just a few weeks, he will be working on a 6 weeks training course to be a Navy Police Officer.  Their daughter Emily is a junior in high school.  We thank the Lord for this church that has prayed for us throughout the years.  They took up a Christmas offering for us to encourage us in our ministry.
