Candlestick Baptist Church

This Sunday found us at Candlestick Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana.  The fellowship was uplifting to our hearts.   Sunday noon meal featured a Cajun Cook-off:  shrimp ettouffe (ay-too-fay), catfish caubion (Koo-be -on), okra, and a shrimp casserole called blend of the bayou.  Cajun food is usually spicy with seafood and French cream sauces.   “You’ve gotta come and try some.”

In the two services, four saints came forward to pray for God’s help in trusting Him more.  On Sunday morning, we had unsaved visitors : please pray that soon they will respond to the gospel.  I used Rawley on Sunday morning and Rosie on Sunday night.  It is wonderful to speak to Cajuns.  They have an enthusiasm for life and laughter.  They celebrate the joy of the Lord.

Sunday, March 21, we ministered at Charity Baptist Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  The first time we ministered here, they were a church plant meeting in the local elementary school on the corner.  Now,  they have their own building and are continuing to reach the community with the gospel.  For Sunday School, I was able to minister to the whole family with a story from the book of Jonah and object lessons presenting the truth of the gospel.  For Sunday morning, I preached an evangelistic message; and I presented our ministry in the evening and preached a message from the book of I Peter.

Please pray for these faithful servants and their pastor as they continue to reach this expanding community with the gospel.

Desert Hills Baptist Church

This week, we have been parked at Desert Hills Baptist Church.  The past two Saturdays, I had the opportunity to speak with ventriloquism and object lessons in a local skateboard park.  Because there was lots of activity,  we only had a few who came over and listened to the ventriloquism; but many more were interested in the object lessons.  Please pray for those who heard the gospel that they will grow in their desire to learn about Christ and they would respond to the Savior.  A local skateboard shop operates a repair van on site; those operating the van are involved with the occult; so this outreach is truly trying to snatch souls from Satan’s clutches.

On Sunday, we met in a local elementary school for the morning services.  On Sunday evening for evening service and Tuesday night for Word of Life club, we met in their youth building which is under construction.  On Wednesday night for prayer meeting, we met in a member’s house.

Jane went to college and worked in the kitchen with Pastor Kirk and Joyce Wesselink.  Please pray for this church as they work with the city concerning future building plans.  The city needs to put in sidewalks, before the church can finish their building.  They have been waiting for many years for the sidewalk/ road to be completed.  Our hearts are blessed to see the spiritual growth and unity of this church plant.

roadtoholbrook.jpgThe week of March 7-10, 2010, we held held meetings in Holbrook, AZ at Berean Baptist Church.  We had one family from the comunity come and visit on Wednesday night.   We also had a friend Paul T. come over from Prescott Valley to encourage the church and us.  On Tuesday, Pastor John and Diane Woods, Miss Jerry and another church member from Valley Baptist Church in Winslow, Arizona joined us for our evening meeting.   Please pray for Berean Baptist Church as they continue to reach out to this community for the Savior.

From February 28 through March 3, 2010, we served at Grace Baptist Church in Washington, Utah.   The congregation faithfully attended our meetings and visitors came throughout the meetings.  One lady came forword to pray for God’s help in her daily life.  Christie Newell, the pastor’s wife, conducted children’s meetings during the preaching and five children trusted Christ as their Savior.

Christie also works as a recreational therapist in several assisted living homes in the area.  Part of her job is to bring entertainment into the home for the residents.  I was able to speak with Rawley in 5 different homes.  So far I have heard of two residents who have trusted in Christ as their Savior.  Please pray for Christie as she continues one on one with these residents

Snow, Snow, Snow!  It is snowing in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  And you thought that we travel to Arizona to get away from the snow.  It is amazing how much snow Arizona gets up in the mountains above the famous Sun Valley.  This week because of a cancelation, we are spending the week in Prescott Valley.  On Friday, I challenged the teens with a Bible study concerning eternal security and this Tuesday, I will speak to the Awana group with one of my friends.

Sunday night, before Pastor Thomas Petro preached, I was able to give the church an update on some of the events on my Philippines trip and summer ministry.  We have enjoyed the opportunity to see long time friends.  Open Door Baptist Church was one of our first supporting churches.

Last week I held meetings on February 14 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kingman, Arizona.  I spoke for a whole church Sunday School with Rodney and preached the morning service with a power point presentation on the Greatest Event on the Horizon of Time.  The morning service was interrupted with a man who claimed to be a prophet.  With the help of pastor and other men, I was able to make it through the message with one vocal outburst.

In the evening service I started with an appearance from Rosie and the story of Ruth and Boaz.  For the message I presented my burden in evangelism and closed with a request to see Rawley, my oldest ventriloquist partner.  Please pray for Pastor Lenzi as he must wait a few days for a dental appointment for a very painful tooth.

On February 7, we held meetings at the Valley Baptist Church in Winslow, Arizona.  This is the first time that we were able to meet Pastor John Woods and his family.  They serve under Baptist Mid Missions.  I spoke  for a whole family Sunday School class in the morning , then preached an evangelistic message at the 11:00 hour.  Right after the morning service, we had a carry in lunch.  In the evening service, I told a story with Randy and presented our ministry to the church.

woods.JPGWe enjoyed our fellowship with Pastor Woods and Diane his wife.   On Friday, we went to three basketball games: Junior Varsity, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys.   On Saturday, we celebrated their son Johnnie’s birthday.  Emily, their daughter is 13.  They are very involved in the school — Diane works in a school office and Johnnie plays basketball.  Please pray for this Pastor and his family as they seek to reach the Native Americans in the Winslow area for the Savior.

On January 31, we held meetings at Faith Baptist Church in Glendale, Arizona with Pastor Richard Briningstool.  This church has a very active Spanish church that meets  with them in their building.  On Sunday morning at 9:15, I preached for the Spanish church with Enoch interpreting for me.   Then at 10:30, I preached for the English service with a challenge from I Peter  5.  At 12:00, we all enjoyed a carry in dinner.  Then at 2:00, I preached in a combined service with Enoch interpreting the message.  I was able to tell a story with Rodney so that everyone could see one of my ventriloquist friends.  After the story Enoch got up and explained the story to those who only speak Spanish.

It was a privilege to take part in the services at Faith Baptist Church.  This church is a blessing  as they seek to reach the Spanish speaking families in this area.  Please pray for Pastor and this thriving church as they minister to this needy area.

Sonoran Desert Baptist Church

On January 24, we held meetings at the Sonoran Desert Baptist Church in Marana, Arizona.  Pastor Steve Carter is striving to start a church in this growing comunity.  During the week I helped pastor go door to door with literature letting people know that this new church is in the area and would love to have them come and visit.  We had four couples attend the Sunday that we were there.  In the past Sonoran Desert Baptist Church has meet in the fire station and the clubhouse of a retirement community.  But now they rent their own meeting place in a office complex.  Please pray for Pastor and his wife as they strive to reach the needs of this thriving area.
