The Olivet Baptist Church in Westwood, Kansas hosted our fortieth annual conference. Each May we hold our annual C.O.M.E. Conference so that we can all come together for fellowship with other C.O.M.E. evangelists. We cover important issues pertinent to our ministries and to the future of C.O.M.E.

Our speaker this year was Dr. Les Ollila the chancellor of Northland Baptist Bible College. Dr. Ollila spoke twice each day and one of the evangelists ended the day with a message for the C.O.M.E. family and for the host church. This year I was asked to be the evangelists’ representative for the next two years. Pray for me as I bring the desires of the evangelists to the board at our December meeting and in May for our annual conference.

On our way to Stockton, Kansas, we also stopped in Salina, Kansas to connect with some dear friends. Ken and Gayle live in Evergreen, Colorado; they were returning to Colorado and traveling through Kansas in their motor home. Kendell helped me with a water problem in the trailer and Jane and Caleb spent time with Gayle in their motor home. We are so thankful for friends like these all across America who support us with their assistance and prayers.

On Saturday I spoke to the youth group that met at the Stockton Baptist Church. The church is renovating the auditorium so the meeting took place in the fellowship room in the back of the church. One girl prayed for assurance and another prayed for a family member who is not saved. For this meeting several friends came from Smith Center, Kansas and other small towns in the area. It was so good to see these friends that we have known for many years.

On Sunday I spoke in an all church Sunday School class. Then for the Sunday morning service, I challenged the congregation to see the lost through the eyes of Jesus. Some of the families in the church travel several miles to help this growing church. Because we were there and ready to speak, they decided to stay through the afternoon so that we could have a special service Sunday night. The attendance was small, but the fellowship was great. Pray for this church as they work on their auditorium and strive to reach this small community with the gospel.

Coming in November

On Sunday May fourth we ministered in a small church in Ore City, Texas. Southside Baptist Church is located just off the shore of the Lake O’ The Pines. The people made us feel right at home. They helped us by providing some new boards for me to level our trailer and to drop our landing gear on.

The fellowship was encouraging as we ministered in an all church Sunday school and for the morning worship service. We finished the day with a Sunday night service that encouraged the church to prepare to meet the King. After both services they held a fellowship dinner.

After this meeting as we drove north for our meetings in Kansas, we were able to stop in Lewisville, Texas (just north of Dallas). We met Tim Cowles of Dummy Works who custom makes ventriloquist partners and we were able to order Rosie, our next “partner.” If there are no delays, Tim should have Rosie finished in November.

On April 27 we presented our ministry at the Lockhart Road Baptist Church. This growing church is located in Denham Springs, Louisiana just outside of town on Lockhart road. Denham Springs is a suburb of Baton Rouge. The pastor and his wife treated us to a big Cajun meal complete with crawfish, shrimp, soft shell crab, clams, and catfish.

The physical food was very good and the spiritual food was precious as we met brothers and sisters in Christ. Four people came forward to make life changing decisions for the Savior, and one young lady came forward to join the church. Please pray for this growing church as they reach out to their community as well as they strive to meet the needs of their missionaries.

Our truck has been in desperate need for some new tires before our summer ministry was to begin. We let our prayer supporters know about this need and they have been praying for us now for several weeks. We rejoice in the fact that through friends across America and from one dear family in Denham Springs this need has been met and we have new tires.
