Lake Darling Junior Camp

Our next stop was in Iowa at Lake Darling for junior camp conducted by a group of Baptist Churches in southeast Iowa. I spoke twice a day with ventriloquism each evening and a study of the sons of Proverbs for a Bible study each morning. The camp had thirty- two junior boys and girls. Five campers trusted Christ as their personal savior. Others asked for prayer in their walk with the Lord to help them to defeat sin and to be a witness to their friends back home.

Before each meal they used a balloon launcher to launch several water balloons. If a camper caught the balloon, he would receive a free treat from the snack shack. With the hot and humid weather, the campers enjoyed the cold wet water when the balloons broke in their hands. At activity time, the campers learned how to play a recorder—they even harmonized! They also built a very loud noise maker out of PVC pipes.

On July 13 – 18, we held our third Vacation Bible School in Fowler, Colorado at Faith Baptist Church. The children have enjoyed our railroad theme: On Track for Christ. We saw eight children trust Christ as their personal Savior. The church came in contact with several new families. Please pray for spiritual growth for those who trusted Christ as their Savior.

Please pray for this small church in eastern Colorado. They are in need of rain for their crops and encouragement in their walk with the Lord. It was great to meet their new pastor, Pastor James Truax and his young family.

Our last week in Arizona was at Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa. Even though the temperature was in the triple digits, our attendance averaged in the forties. Several new visitors came. Please pray that Calvary Baptist will see one new family start attending the church as a result of our Daily Vacation Bible School.

During the week we had one girl respond to the invitation seeking for assurance of salvation. Please pray that she will begin to grow in her faith and start attending church faithfully.

Junior week at Camp Tishomingo was also held at the Victory Baptist Church in Casa Grande, Arizona. After the challenge came from the Word of God concerning Zacchaeus and his problems with lying and stealing, eight juniors raised their hands asking for prayer about their walk with the Lord.

Because of the 4th of July, camp ended on Thursday. We had a great week with lots of fun and good decisions concerning their walk with the Lord.

Camp Tishomingo was held in Casa Grande at Victory Baptist Church just south of Phoenix, Arizona. The week of June 23 – 27, 2008 was filled with both the Junior High and Senior High children. We saw God working in hearts with one salvation, one decision for baptism and one decision for missions. We also saw 9 young people raise their hand to remain pure until marriage.

Please pray for the camp as they continue to work on their new land close to Show Low, Arizona.
