A Request To Keep Praying

On Tuesday, August 26, 2008, Caleb and I began traveling to Pierceton, Indiana to see Jane and leave some of her belongings.  In the evening on I-80 in Pennsylvania, a trucker radioed me that I was about to lose my front driver side tire.  I pulled over and saw my tire at a 45 degree angle ready to fall to the ground.   After three days of anxiously waiting for parts, we are back on the road again.

Thank you for all your prayers for us
We so desperately need them.

Before leaving the state of Pennsylvania, I presented our ministry at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sinking Spring with Pastor Merritt Hole.  I spoke for an all church Sunday school and morning service.  That evening at five o’clock, I preached a message to exhort and encourage the saints and shared my testimony with the missionary committee and how God led me into the ministry of evangelism.

Please pray for Maranatha Baptist Church and Pastor Hole as they seek to reach this area with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The church looks very attractive as they are working on new landscape and flower arrangements.

Our last Vacation Bible School for the summer was in Norristown, Pennsylvania with Pastor Ernie Mascho.  This Vacation Bible School was for the whole family at Grace Baptist Church on Quarry Hall Road.  We had an average of 50 for the whole week with lots of singing and a very fun penny drive that the girls won.  The church family was very faithful all week long and we had visitors each night.

The church set up two tents for outside activities.  Under one of the tents, the children came to say their verses and add up all of their points for the week.  The second tent covered a model train that the children and some of the adults could ride.

We rejoice in all of the visitors that came this week giving the church lots of great contacts for future visitation.  Please pray for this growing church in a northwest suburb of Philadelphia.

Because Jane fell in York’s Corner, New York and damaged her knee, she flew out to Pierceton, Indiana to find a doctor that would see her.  She left Caleb with me until the following week when I will travel back to the mid west.  I will drop Caleb off in Pierceton, Indiana and leave things that Jane will need for her recovery.  Please pray for Jane and for her long recovery.  The doctor told her she tore a muscle and a tendon and has a deep bone bruise [micro-fractures] that she will have to stay in Pierceton for two to four months for physical therapy.

From Wellsville, New York, we traveled through several backroads to arrive in Eden, New York for our next Vacation Bible School. We had around 35 children for the week with two salvation decisions and one that prayed asking the Lord for spiritual growth in his Christian life.

We ended the week with a closing program with several of the parents coming to hear Rawley tell the story of Jonah and enjoy some outside treats. We had snow cones with lots of cookies and an inflatable bouncy house for all to enjoy. Please pray that some of these children will start attending church on Sunday and that their parents will be faithful in their walk with the Lord.

The week of August third through the eighth, we held a Vacation Bible School in York Corners for Pastor Vernon Dean. This country church has the address of Wellsville, New York, but is sheltered in the Valley of York Corners. The church family was very encouraging to us as well as faithful to each of our meetings. The ladies worked hard on building a large cardboard locomotive engine that we used to take pictures of each of the children that attended our Vacation Bible School.

Please pray for the pastor as well as the church family as they visit the new contacts that we were able to make during this exciting week. Also pray for the pastor and his doctor as they work on his serious health issues.

Jane had a battle with gravity on Friday morning. Gravity won. Fortunately, her knee was not broken, but she is still in recovery.

We ministered at Camp Manitoumi in Lowpoint, Illinois on July 28 through August 1, 2008. Over the years we have enjoyed our ministry at Camp Manitoumi with Director John Kealen. This year we rejoice in the eight that trusted Christ as their Savior. Two prayed with their counselor right after the final campfire as many gave testimony of what they learned about God.

We also saw six other decisions; such as campers who decided that they needed to find friends who love the Lord, others who desired to obey their parents; and others who want to stop using the Lord’s name in vain and start sharing their faith in Christ at school.

On Sunday just before our week at Camp Manitoumi, I spoke in Pontiac, Illinois. It was a real joy to minister with Mark and Nancy Staley who are also missionaries with C.O.M.E. We enjoyed the fellowship at Calvary Baptist Church and the opportunity to present our ministry.
