On January 24, we held meetings at the Sonoran Desert Baptist Church in Marana, Arizona.  Pastor Steve Carter is striving to start a church in this growing comunity.  During the week I helped pastor go door to door with literature letting people know that this new church is in the area and would love to have them come and visit.  We had four couples attend the Sunday that we were there.  In the past Sonoran Desert Baptist Church has meet in the fire station and the clubhouse of a retirement community.  But now they rent their own meeting place in a office complex.  Please pray for Pastor and his wife as they strive to reach the needs of this thriving area.

We ministered at the Sahuaro Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona on January 17, 2010.  This church has faithfully supported us with prayer and finances for over 15 years.  It was a joy to see friends from this church.  For Sunday School, we combined the adult and teen classes and I presented my seminar: The Harvest on leading a friend to Christ.  For the morning service, I preached a message on the rapture to encourage the saints with the great hope of our future.  In the evening, I updated the church on our ministry and financial needs.

sahuaro01.jpgDuring the week, we were able to spend some time enjoying some of the desert sights such as the mountains that surround us.  Sahuaro National Park is only 3 miles away from the church.  Please pray for Pastor Jim Smith as he has big decisions to make in the near future for him and his family.

On January 10, we were able to present our ministry at Rustic Hills Baptist Church.  We arrived a few days early so that we could get some body work done on our trailer.  Somewhere in our many miles on the road, something flew up and put a hole in the fender in the back of our trailer just in front of the bumper on the passenger’s side.  We praise the Lord that the work was finished very quickly and we were back in our trailer in just two days.  Special thanks to the Clark family who housed us while the work was done.

Rustic Hills Baptist Church is looking in the next five years to support three new missionaries.  Please pray that we might be one of those missionaries that they add to their support list.  Pastor Stanley Lightfoot also needs our prayers for the needs of his family.  His son just had knee surgery and his daughter had four of her wisdom teeth removed.  She has developed a very serious infection that is keeping her at home.

On January 3, 2010, we held meetings at the Faith Baptist Church in Fowler, Colorado.  It was a joy to see friends that we have made in years past.  Pastor Stephen Anderson just graduated from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary and was called as the new pastor in November.  What a blessing to see this young family serving the Lord in this small community.

I was able to tell a story with Rosie, my newest ventriloquist partner.  This was Rosie’s first full Bible story.  I am still working on her personality and voice, but she is coming along very nicely.  For the morning and evening services, I preached two messages and gave a quick report on our ministry.

The Greatest of Treasures

In December, we parked our trailer in Kansas City, Kansas to minister in area churches with our Christmas program “The Greatest of Treasures.”  Rawley and Randy helped me tell the Christmas story and Jane sang solos matching the theme.  We ministered in 5 churches and saw 3 young children trust Christ as their Savior.  I was also able to speak twice in the Shawnee Mission Christian School at Olivet Baptist Church and once at their Awana club.

After leaving Kansas City, we traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming where we also presented our Christmas program at Faith Baptist Church.  Praise the Lord two boys accepted the Lord as their Savior.  We celebrated Christmas with my sister who lives in Cheyenne and my Dad and Loma came down from Rapid City to join us for a few days.
