For Sunday, February 26, 2012, I preached at Desert Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Kirk and Joyce Wesslink were friends of Jane from college and now ministering in the South West corner of Albuquerque.  Desert Hills Baptist Church just finished building their classroom building and fellowship hall.  The church is growing and God is blessing the ministry here in New Mexico.  After waiting for several years for the city to finish building the sidewalk in front of the Church “so they could legally start holding services in the building,” the work is finished and now the church no longer has to meet in the school down the road.

wesselink.jpgI preached on Sunday three times and once on Tuesday night for the Word of Life Club.  They have a great youth group that has been faithful to church and eager to learn God’s Word.  During our ministry here at Desert Hills Baptist Church we saw one teen trust Christ as Savior on Sunday night and two more responded to the invitation on Tuesday.  Two of the brothers who just trusted Christ as their Savior have a father who is dying of cancer and needs to get saved before it is too late.  Please pray that these two boys will be able to reach their dad with the gospel.

On Sunday, February 19, 2012, I preached at Valley Baptist Church in Winslow, Arizona.  Pastor John and Diane Woods with Baptist Mid- Missions have faithfully served the Lord here for eleven years.  On Friday and Saturday, I drove their youth group of 7 girls and 1 boy to a winter youth retreat held at the Open Door Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  John Leonard, a missionary in Brazil, was the special speaker for the weekend.  After the youth retreat, I drove the youth back to Winslow and I preached for all three Sunday services.

On Monday Pastor Woods took us north through the Indian reservation.  We were able to see a part of the Navaho and Hopi reservation.  We stopped at Second Mesa where the small houses perch on top of a mesa.  We also ate Hopi Tacos at the nearby Hopi Restaurant.  Please pray for Pastor Woods’ son Johnny as he is in need of some guidance in what he wants to do after high school.

This week we have had the privilege of being at Sahuaro Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona.  The church is located only three miles from the Sahuaro National Park in the southeast corner of Tucson.  I spoke for an adult Sunday School class and presented a seminar on Overcoming Fear in Sharing the Gospel.  Sunday morning I preached from Acts 16 on Paul and Silas in prison.  Then on Sunday night, I preached on the demoniac of Gadarene.

On Tuesday I will be speaking at the Awana Valentine service for the youth.  Please pray for this church as they are seeking for a new pastor.  Also pray for the Awana night on Tuesday that we might see those who need the Savior to trust in Christ soon.

Baptist Bayou Conference

At the end of the month from January 29 – 31, 2012, we attended the Baptist Bayou Conference at Gonzales Baptist Temple in Gonzales, Louisiana.  Al though I was not scheduled to preach at the conference,  Pastor Clint Johnson let us park at the church and attend the meetings.  We have many friends in this church from ministering at the church in the past.  So I spoke for the Teen Sunday School class and the children’s church during the morning service.  On Tuesday, I spoke in their Christian School chapel.  We praise the Lord for the girl that trusted Christ as her Savior that morning.  “A New Name Written Down in Glory”

Please pray for Pastor Clint Johnson; he and 2 other men from Gonzales left on Thursday after the Conference to minister in Peru.  They will be riding in a bus for three days before arriving at their final destination.  Pray that their ministry will produce much fruit and that they will arrive back home safely.
