GracePa

August 11 – 16, 2013

Our last Vacation Bible School this summer was out near Philadelphia in Norristown, Pennsylvania at Grace Baptist Church.  Pastor Ernie Mascho used our theme “Western Round Up.” Caleb helped by posting the songs, flag salutes, and memory verses using power point.  The children enjoyed the Bible stories and the object lessons.  If the children said the verses for the week, they won a Western bandana.  With perfect attendance, they received a sheriff badge.  Four raised their hand for salvation, but did not respond to the invitation.  Please pray that pastor will be able to follow up on those who showed an interest.

On Tuesday, Caleb and I went to the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle in Bucks County.  Called “Castles Full of Treasures,” Henry Mercer collected tools from early American crafts and trades.  He even suspended from the ceiling a whaling boat and an antique fire engine.

[Earlier in Omaha in late July, Jane developed a cornea erosion.  Because the specialist in Omaha cleared her, we left Omaha on Tuesday, August 6; however, she needed to remain in Indiana to continue to heal. Praise the Lord, her eyesight is returning and she is no longer in pain.]

Temple1On July 27, we left our trailer in Silvis, Illinois and only took our truck to Omaha.  While in Omaha, we stayed in the mission house next to Temple Baptist Church.    From July 28 – August 2, 2013, we conducted VBS at Temple.  We had over 50 children in Vacation Bible School and 5 raised their hand for salvation, but only one responded to the invitations.  This girl knew that Jesus died for sinners; but didn’t think she had ever sinned.  Please pray for her that she will soon see her need and trust in Christ.

Each evening the church provided the workers a delicious meal before Vacation Bible School.  The fellowship and desserts were sweet and the meals were a great blessing before the children all came for the special event.  The games included filling the “cow trough” with water, “horse” back riding, and bobbing for apples.  Even the daily treats had unique names; Monday, Cowboy Cookies; Tuesday, Hired Hands; Wednesday, Frozen Cow Pies; Thursday, Horse Feed; and Friday Campfire Chaos.

Calvary Baptist Church

CalvaryOn July 21-26, 2013, we conducted a Vacation Bible School in Quincy, Illinois at Calvary Baptist Church.  Youth Pastor Brian Hess served as the director and songleader.  The young people listened well as my friends shared the Bible stories and I illustrated the gospel with object lessons.  Through the week we saw six children raise their hand indicating their need of God’s help to live for the Lord in their daily lives.  What a joy to see the young people grow in their Christian walk.

The games — Stage Coach Races, Cow Roping, and the Noah’s Ark Bounce House – help to get rid of the wiggle worms.  The treats also followed our theme.  While there, we enjoyed the historical houses as we took our daily walk with Pepper.  Please be in much prayer for this church as they look for a Pastor to shepherd this dear flock of saints.
