On November 9, 2014, I spoke at Bible Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. We started with a Sunday School service for the whole family. Then for the Sunday morning service, I preached out of Isaiah 53. Because their pastor — Pete McKenzie graduated to glory in October, I wanted to encourage them in the Lord as a congregation to continue faithfully serving our mighty Lord. Pastor Mitch Serviss who was serving as youth pastor is now their interim pastor as they seek God’s direction. Please pray for this church in Las Vegas as they grieve and seek God’s will.

During our stay in Las Vegas, Caleb and I enjoyed the air show which featured the historical planes from World War II through today’s technical marvels the F-22. The Thunderbirds closed the show with a fantastic demonstration of maneuverability and coordination. On Tuesday, we attended the annual Veterans Day Parade – one of the largest in our country. As we watched on the side of the road, the youth group handed tracts to people passing on the sidewalk.

RoundUp

On November 1, I spoke for the Round-up the annual fall meeting for the GARB churches in southern California. In the morning I spoke to the K – 6th grade youth with Rawley and the story of Jonah. From 11:30 to 12:30, I spoke for the main service for the day. The theme for the day was “The Round Up”. I used my experience in 1987 in Montana when I helped with the cattle branding to illustrate my message challenging the saints to reach the lost. Mount Up, Ride Out, Rope ‘em, and Brand ‘em gave the challenge to throw out the lasso and reach the lost so that they can be branded (sealed) until the Savior returns. Even so come Lord Jesus.

Pray for us as we head to Las Vegas, Nevada to minister at Bible Baptist Church. Their pastor Pete McKenzie suffered a stroke while preaching on October 5 and was promoted to Glory on October 11. This growing church needs much prayer and encouragement at this time. Pray that we can encourage them at this time of grief.

Heritage

For October 12 – 26, 2014 we headed to Portland, Oregon for a short project. Pastor Bob Nakamura the pastor of Heritage Baptist Church works to meet the needs of his family. In the first week I knocked on doors and invited neighbors who lived close to the church to the next week of meetings. Pastor and his wife used Facebook to invite over 40,000 people who lived nearby. Some of the neighbors visited during the week of meetings.

During the week of meetings Caleb lead the singing for the week and played a solo with his Irish flute. Jane sang solos. The church faithfully attended the meetings and invited friends and family. For October 26 I preached on the Silent Years – the time period between the Testaments on how God prepared the language, culture, and people for our Savior to appear.
