On Wednesday night, November 4, 2015, we drove down to Huron, South Dakota to present our ministry and encourage the church to keep supporting missions. In 1986, I spoke here for my very first Vacation Bible School. Pastor Bill Holmes is still the pastor and has been a great encouragement to me over the last 32 years. It was good to see friends that we have known for many years. It was also good to be able to stay for a few days and see my cousins and Uncle Russell and Aunt Pat Hotchkiss. I also spent time with Dennis a cousin who lives near Seattle, Washington.

We stayed over the weekend and the church asked me to speak for children’s church on Sunday morning. Randy and I told the story of Samson and what he learned about sin. The children listened intently and asked for more from Randy. We left early Monday morning, so that we could go see Terry Redlin’s Art Center on I-29 in Watertown, South Dakota. Then we headed south to Omaha, Nebraska to spend some time with Caleb before heading to Des Moines for our next meeting at Norwoodville Baptist Church.

Buffalo

On November 1, 2015, we held meetings at Faith Baptist Church in James town, North Dakota. Years ago, in one of my first Vacation Bible Schools I spoke here, even before meeting my wife Jane. It was good to see Pastor Paul Stuart and his wife Mary. Their daughter Jesse and her husband Mike are faithfully attending the church and helping in any way they can to reach this community for Christ. Several families have moved away in the past few years and now the church is meeting in a room of a local business. This move has made the church handicap accessible and given them a location on the main road through town. Pastor Stuart works to meet their financial needs, as they continue to keep the church open and reach the lost with the gospel. Please pray for Faith Baptist Church as they seek to reach this area with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jamestown is known for having the “largest buffalo in the world” and two albino buffalo. White Cloud is the mother and her son is Dakota Miracle. Many Indian tribes and others in the New Age Movement believe that this white buffalo is the embodiment of a female spirit who predicted that the “nations will be united in harmony.” Because of this, many confused seekers visit Jamestown to “commune with her.” Since she is 20 years old, I’m not sure that peace and unity has been achieved Of course, we know that Christ alone is the Prince of Peace. While men will try to have peace without Him, only Jesus will bring true, real reconciliation between God and man and between nations.

NDakota

We held meetings at Faith Baptist Church in Carrington, North Dakota on October 25, 2015. This church has faithfully supported our ministry for over 20 years. It was good to see the church family and spend time with the pastor and his wife. I was able to preach for each service on Sunday and tell a story with Randy on Wednesday night for their Master’s Club. Most of the children in Master’s Club live in the community around the church. They listened well and had lots of questions about the ventriloquism and object lessons. Please pray for those who need to trust Christ as Savior.

Jane was able to work at folding covers and collating Bible pages for the Bearing Precious Seeds ministry that the church is involved in. Jane was able to fold and collate about 1000 John & Romans booklets as I worked on our new website. On Monday, Pastor Corey Pepple and I were able to have lunch together and head out to the countryside to sight in his deer rifle for the coming hunting season. The fellowship was great and taking time out for a break was refreshing.
