 FlintCreek

Sunday, July 24, 2016 I preached at Flint Creek Baptist Church in Philipsburg, Montana.  We enjoyed seeing friends that we saw the last time we ministered at Flint Creek and the joy of meeting new members and seeing guests that just moved into the area.  Rodney helped me tell the story of Noah and the “Most Important Boat Ever Made” for a whole family Sunday School.  Then for the morning service I preached out of John chapter three.  Please pray for those who were challenged by God’s Word and that soon they will make decisions to follow the truth found in the Word of God.

Sweet Palace Bear Claw01Just before leaving Philipsburg we had to stop at two of the shops that this small town in known for.  The local restaurant known for their fountain pop and delicious hamburgers.  I had a quarter pound Buffalo Burger and Jane had their Angus Burger with no bun.  Then we went across the street to The Sweet Palace candy store with Sea Salt taffy, fudge of all flavors and chocolate grizzly claws.  Pastor’s two daughters work in this store to help them raise the money for their college tuition.  They are both heading to Pensacola Bible College in the state of Florida.

Community Baptist Church in Dixon, Montana had to cancel our week of Daily Vacation Bible School because the Dixon Elementary School across the street from the church decided to have summer school the same week.  This meant that our week of meetings changed to a one-day meeting on Sunday, July 17.  It was good to see these faithful servants of the Lord again and meet their new pastor.  During the week Pastor Dan Westphal works full-time as a lumberjack and preaches in Dixon on Sunday.  Please pray for this growing church as they decide on what they are going to do with their church building that is wearing out.

Because of the cancellation in Dixon, we were able to visit Glacier National Park on the 18th and spend some time with Jane’s Aunt Ethel and Uncle Jim in Great Falls, Montana July 19-21.

LakeBlaine

Junior Boys’ camp at Lake Blaine Baptist Camp was July 11 – 15, 2016.  On Sunday morning, July 10, I preached in Swan Valley at Swan Valley Baptist Church.  Then on Sunday night, I preached in Kalispell at Bethel Baptist Church for Pastor David Pestel.  I was the evangelist for the week of Bible Camp and the missionary was Colin Ovenell home on his third furlough from Africa.  During the week the campers worked hard on their verses and workbooks for points and awards for their teams. We rejoice in the five campers who trusted in Christ as their Savior and for one who responded for assurance.  Two others responded for prayer to help them in their walk with the Lord.

At the end of camp Colin and I were able to take some time to go out on lake Blaine and do some fishing.

On July 3rd we held meetings with Pastor Gordon Dexter at Faith Baptist Church in Missoula, Montana.  The church in Missoula has several missionaries and camp speakers preaching all summer long.  It was a privilege to be able to preach and present our ministry with those dear saints in the church.  Sunday morning, I presented several stories from different wars that America fought for our freedom.  The most important war we fight for our freedom is the war that every men is fighting for his own eternal soul.  To be set free from the bonds of our sin is a fight that every man needs to win.  He can win this war through the Lord Jesus Christ.  For Sunday School Rodney helped me tell the story of Noah and the most important boat ever built.  Then Sunday night I presented our ministry and preached from Acts chapter 16.

We spent the 4th of July with the church family out in the country just outside the city limits.  We ate grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and everyone brought side dishes and desserts. After lunch we gathered together to hear Rawley help me tell the story of David and Goliath.  The day ended with everyone leaving for their homes and information on where we could find a local fireworks display after dark.

Chewelah05

Silcott Ministries finished a week of “Building Lives for Christ” at Chewelah Baptist Church in Chewelah, Washington.  The Vacation Bible School was well attended with visitors coming to see the fun and earn lots of exciting awards.  The construction breakroom was decorated with treats displayed around toy dump trucks and earth moving equipment.  Each day Pastor Dan Cleghorn handed out a bird house kit or a toolbox kit to the one who sat quietly and listened to the speaker.  The honored child could build and paint the project at home.  The top builder of the week got a tool bag filled with tools for future building projects.

Chewelah, WA05It was good to spend time with Pastor Dan Cleghorn and his wife Karen this week for a Vacation Bible School.  I first met Dan and his wife at Faith Baptist Bible College back in 1982.  Pastor Dan was one year ahead of me in college.  I have always enjoyed his friendship and opportunities to take part in serving the Lord together in ministry.  Please pray for their son Jonathan and Melissa Cleghorn, who live in West Virginia.  Their home was flooded and they are in the process of demolishing the flood damaged walls, throwing away most of their possessions, then repairing the damage, rebuilding their home, and replacing their possessions. Because they have a young baby girl with special health needs, until the house is safe, Melissa and their 3 children will be staying with her parents.
