Charity Baptist Church

Saturday, February 18th, 2017

On February 12 – 15, 2017 we held a week of meetings at Charity Baptist Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico for Pastor Keith Skaggs. Years ago, I spoke at Charity when it was first meeting in the school building just across the street. What a joy it has been to watch the church grow over these past 20 years.  The services were well attended and in each service I preached and used ventriloquism. Each evening we also spent time with a family in their home for supper with great fellowship and lots of fun.  Please pray for Diana Skaggs and her daughter as they try to overcome painful medical issues.

During our stay in Rio Rancho, we noticed that our refrigerator in the motorhome was not keeping things cold. On Wednesday night, we noticed that it had a code of “No Co” on the screen and the frig was off.  On Friday, we drove our home to Camping World and the coolant unit in the back of the refrigerator has failed.  They told us that it will take at least two weeks to get the parts in and fix it.  On Monday, we are heading to the Phoenix area in Arizona.  We hope to be able to get our refrigerator fixed soon.

Faith Baptist Church

On February 5, 2017, we spent the day at Faith Baptist Church in Fowler, Colorado. For more than 20 years, they have faithfully supported us through prayer and finances.  On Sunday morning I started the whole family Sunday school with a Bible story from Rawley. For the morning message, I presented a Valentine’s message from the book of Ruth.  Pastor Anderson also gave me 15 minutes before the message to present our ministry with our power point presentation. On Sunday evening I preached out of the book of Matthew as Jesus tells the Sadducees that God is the God of the living and not of the dead.

On Saturday I enjoyed speaking at a church member’s birthday party; several unbelievers were there.  Then on Tuesday, Randy helped me tell the story of Zacchaeus during AWANA.  For lunch on Sunday we drove over to the pastor’s new house where he and his family have several baby goats, turkeys, ducks and a few cows.  Please pray for Pastor Anderson and the church family as they decide what they are going to do with the church’s parsonage.

Mountain Shadows Baptist Church

Several years ago, my Dad, Pastor Ralph Silcott helped Mountain Shadows Baptist Church in Pueblo West build a new building for a church just getting started.  During the construction, my dad also built a pulpit and communion table.  On Sunday January 29, 2017 I preached for the morning service and presented our ministry to Pastor Ryan Lundquist and to this growing church during Sunday School.  The church is running close to 100 people for Sunday morning services.  They just completed their second building project and looking at needing more space in the near future.

At 3:30 Sunday afternoon, the church holds their Joy Club for the youth in the church.  Rawley helped me tell the story of Jonah and the Great Fish.  The children listened intently as I shared the gospel with them using object lessons.  On Sunday night two other churches came to Pueblo West to join us for a monthly Singspiration.  Please pray for the pastor and church family as they consider the Lord’s leading in their future construction plans.

On December 15, 2017 Jane left Rapid City, South Dakota to take Caleb back to college in Omaha, Nebraska.  A few days later I left with the motorhome to head south down to Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Faith Baptist Church in Wyoming is one of our supporting churches.  They have now moved to a better location on the south side of town into an existing church building that better meets their growing needs.  I got to fill the pulpit for pastor on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 and speak for their youth group on Tuesday.  Please pray for the church in Cheyenne as they work at starting a Day Care Center at their new building.  God has blessed them in many ways and seek to reach this growing community for our Savior.

While in Cheyenne,, I found time to see my sister, Shirley Johnson, on Thursday night for supper at a local restaurant.

Caleb, our son is now doing well, but was very sick so Jane had to stay an extra 10 days in Omaha to monitor his recovery.  As Jane stayed in Omaha, I left Cheyenne, Wyoming and headed south to Pueblo West for our next meeting on January 29, 2017.
