Amazing Grace Ministries

Thursday, March 29th, 2018

On March 25, 2018, we held meetings with Pastor Gordon Scoggan who is starting a church in Eunice, Louisiana.  We meet Pastor Gordon at the Louisiana Fundamental Baptist Fellowship in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Pastor Gordon is seeking to start Amazing Grace Ministries in Eunice, Louisiana.  On Friday and Saturday, we started by knocking on doors in town introducing people to the church and inviting people to come for a whole family Sunday School with ventriloquism and object lessons.  Because of our door knocking we had three people visit in the morning and two returned in the evening.  Please pray that the visitors will come back and the lost will soon trust in Christ as their Savior.

On Saturday night we had a church fellowship at a member’s house and ate hot dogs and chili.  After the meal the men went outside for some more fellowship and a chance to practice some skeet shooting.  Now, I am ready to do some pheasant hunting when I get back in the Midwest 😊.

Calvary Baptist Church

Wednesday, March 21st, 2018

On Sunday March 18, 2018, we had the opportunity to minister at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana with Pastor Steve Avera.  This is the first time that we have been able to meet this church family and present our ministry.  The pastor has been on the road and out from the pulpit for a few weeks, but he still let us come and present our ministry in a whole family Sunday School and preach in their children’s church.  Sunday night we enjoyed hearing Pastor Avera preach and get to know the church family better.  Please pray for pastor and his family as they encourage the church to repair their church property and reach this area with the gospel.

During the week Pastor Avera gave me rides back to Lake Charles so we could get our radiator replaced in our red car.  Our car is showing signs of wear after so many miles on the road, so please pray for us as we look for another car to replace our red car.

Friendship Baptist Church

Monday, March 19th, 2018

Our meetings at Friendship Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana with Pastor Nathan Nazworth started with a pastor’s conference on Monday and Tuesday March 5th & 6th.  Pastors that I have known for years came to Friendship Baptist Church in Lake Charles for fellowship in prayer and great preaching from the Word of God.  This group fellowships together once a month throughout the year and each time they meet at a different church.

After the Pastors’ Conference, I returned to Temple, Texas in our red car for the dentist to insert the permanent cap over a root canal I had two weeks ago while ministering in Copperas Cove, Texas.  On Thursday, March 8, on the way to Temple, the transmission in our car stopped shifting into the upper gears.  After renting a car for the rest of the trip and towing the car back to Louisiana, we had the car repaired at a local transmission shop.  Please pray for us as we investigate replacing our car with something with lower miles that we can use in the future.  We must find something that will work well with “stubbing” – towing behind our motorhome.

Then on Sunday, March 11th, at Friendship Baptist, I presented my Bible study on Methods of Evangelism that we find in the Word of God.  For the Sunday morning service, I introduced Rodney with a story from the book of Daniel and preached an evangelistic message from the book of John.  Sunday night, Randy presented the story of Gideon and his 300 men that defeated the Midianites and closed the Sunday night service with a message from Mark 5 and a short presentation of our ministry.  On Wednesday night, March 14, the whole church came together with the AWANA children for a message with ventriloquism and object lessons to present the gospel.  Please pray for Pastor Nathan and his wife Kristen as they teach their children and reach their community for Christ.

Victory Baptist Church

Saturday, March 10th, 2018

Our next meeting was in Lake Charles, Louisiana at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Dartez.  Lake Charles has lots of fishing and places to get crayfish.  It was good to see friends again and preach Sunday night and share the gospel in their Christian School.  The piano player in the church also asked me to come to her school a few miles away and present the gospel to her students through ventriloquism and object lessons.  Please pray for those who heard the gospel but have not trusted in Christ as their Savior.

Three weeks ago, while in Texas, I broke my molar, needed a root canal and a crown.  So, during the week, I made a trip to Texas as the crown was made.   Half way to Temple, Texas, the transmission in our red car quit shifting at Waller, Texas.  After many hours on the phone, I was able to rent a car to drive to Temple for the dentist appointment.  I drove back to Waller to return the rental and meet some friends from Lake Charles to tow the car back to Louisiana.  Please pray for us as we try to decide what to do with our car.

Lighthouse Baptist Fellowship

Saturday, March 10th, 2018

We held a week of revival meetings at Lighthouse Baptist Fellowship on February 25 – 28, 2018.  The meetings were well attended as we started with Rosie for a whole family Sunday School lesson with ventriloquism and object lessons.  Sunday morning, I introduced the church to Philip the evangelist and his message to the Ethiopian Eunuch.  Then in the evening I preached out of Mark chapter five with a message I have titled a “Living Portfolio”. Each evening the church prepared hot dogs so everyone coming to the meetings could come to church right from school or work.  On Tuesday I was able to present the gospel at a Respite Care Center for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia.  Rawley helped me tell the story of Jonah and the Great Fish.  They enjoyed it so much they asked me to come back whenever we are in the area.

We enjoyed our stay in Texarkana and the time that we were able to spend with Pastor David Trader and his wife Nancy.  They have prayed and supported us financially for several years.  Pastor has been going through multiple surgeries: rotor cup, back, and knee surgery and now they are talking that he might need to have knee replacement surgery.  He is still able to work and keep preaching at Lighthouse Baptist Fellowship but is very tired and sore when the weather gets bad.  Please pray for pastor and his wife as they seek to reach Texarkana, Arkansas with the Gospel.
