Central Baptist Church

For September 21 – 24 we held meetings in Gillette, Wyoming at the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Clem.  On Saturday, September 21, I preached twice at their Fall Youth Rally.  In the morning Rodney helped me with the message of Noah and what I call “The Great Boat Float”.  It was to challenge the youth with their walk with the Lord to reach the lost with the gospel and challenge them to live for the Lord. Later that day, I preached from the book of Mark and the story of the Demoniac of Gadara.  If Jesus can calm the storm from without, what can He do with the storm that is within?  Then on Sunday, September 22, 2019, I held a whole family Sunday School with a message from the book of Judges and what Samson learned about his sin.  Sunday morning service was a message from the book of Daniel about Daniel’s three friends facing the fiery furnace.  Sunday night was a message of Jesus using parables to confront his critics with the fact that he came to reach sinners.

During the week we were able to enjoy fellowshipping with friends that we have known for years and meeting new friends in the church.  On Tuesday, I preached for chapel at Heritage Christian School.  They had about 60 children who attended the chapel and heard the gospel.  Please pray that the Lord will work in the hearts of the lost and challenge believers to live for the Lord.  We ended our meetings in Gillette on Wednesday night with a presentation of several different methods of evangelism found in Scripture.  Please pray for Pastor Clem and his wife Chelsia as they serve the Lord in Gillette, Wyoming and meet the needs of this growing church.

Hulett, Wyoming

On September 15, 2019 we held meetings at First Baptist Church in Hulett, Wyoming.  Pastor Palus asked me to hold a whole family Sunday School and preach a gospel message for the morning hour.  Sunday Night I led a Bible Study at a home 30 miles away in Beulah Land.  Pastor was not feeling well and made a trip to Spearfish to the emergency room.  Then on Wednesday night I told a story through ventriloquism for their youth group that gathered at 4:00 pm.

On Monday and Tuesday, I was able returned to Rapid City to help my dad with moving things to prepare for future construction and find misplaced paper work.  Please pray for this growing work in Hulett and for pastor as they seek to find out way he does not feel well.  Thanks for praying for the Silcott Ministries.  The church is celebrating its 115th year anniversary and is near the Devil’s Tower National Monument.

Calvary Baptist Church

On September 8, 2019, we held meetings at Calvary Baptist Church in Sturgis, South Dakota.  Sturgis is well known for their Harley Davidson Motorcycle Rally on the edge of the Black Hills.  On Friday evening, we enjoyed a campfire with singing hymns and smores.  Then on Sunday morning we started with a whole family Sunday School hour with a story through ventriloquism and object lessons to share the gospel and encourage the Saints.  For the morning service I preached from the gospel of John to encourage the lost to respond to the gospel and challenge the Saints to live for the Lord.  Sunday Night, we reached out to the youth to start youth meetings in the church.  Pastor’s children helped and brought in several youth from the community giving me the opportunity to tell a story through ventriloquism and preach a gospel message out of the book of Daniel.

During the week we were able to take a trip through the Badlands of South Dakota and spend some time helping my dad with his construction on his house.  Please pray for the church in Sturgis as they continue to reach this community with the gospel.  Also pray for my dad Pastor Ralph Silcott as he is trying to finish his house and meet the needs of his wife Loma who is now in the nursing home in Rapid City.

Prairie View Baptist Church

Friday, September 6th, 2019

On September 1, 2019, we held meetings at Prairie View Baptist Church in Moorcroft, Wyoming.  It was exciting to meet the new pastor Joshua and his wife Rebecca Clark.  Over the years this church has been in our prayers, because this was the church that my dad wired the electric and built the cabinets in the kitchen.  I remember as a teen helping with the sheetrock work and helping my dad with the wiring of the light switches and the electric plugins.  Eating lunch in the church we were able to see the cabinets still being in use all these years.

For Sunday School I presented a message for the whole family and preached in both the morning and afternoon service right after dinner.  The gospel was presented, and the fellowship was very sweet.  Please pray for this church as they seek to reach the lost and encourage the saints in this small church just off from I-90 in the state of Wyoming.
