Bethany Bible Baptist Church

Peter Leavell, Christopher Leavell, Joseph Leavell, Rawley, Timothy Silcott

We left Carrington, North Dakota and headed south to Tulare, South Dakota.  This is a small town just north of where I was born in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.  Back in 1986 at the beginning of my ministry, I held a Vacation Bible School in Tulare at Bethany Bible Baptist Church for Pastor Monte Leavell.  God used Monte Leavell in my life to lead me into the ministry of evangelism.  Now God is using Pastor Todd Bowers and his wife Becky to reach Tulare with the gospel of Christ.  On October 20, 2019 we were able to present our ministry with friends that we have known for years.  For Sunday School and the evening service I presented my seminar on Creation Versus Evolution.  For the morning service I preached from Daniel encouraging the Saints to take a stand against the gods of this world.

During the week we were able to spend some time with my Aunt and Uncle and several of my cousins who live in the area. Please pray for my family as they struggle with wayward children and many health concerns.  Also pray for Beckie Bowers who is back in Idaho helping her brother who has been going through treatments for cancer.  Thanks for praying for the Silcott Ministries.

Faith Baptist Church

While in Baker, on Monday we enjoyed some well-needed rest. And Jane turned on the Weather Channel for the forecast. Jane realized that a winter storm was on the way and could prevent us from making it to our next meeting in Carrington, North Dakota.  So, on Tuesday, we quickly packed up the motorhome and headed across the state. In true Western fashion, the weather on Tuesday was pleasant (78), calm and with blue skies.  Tuesday evening at 4:30 we arrived in Carrington and got set up for the week. Throughout Wednesday, the temperature dropped to the 40s and the skies were grey. That evening I spoke to the youth group and enjoyed the fellowship with the church family in prayer during their prayer meeting

The blizzard hit on early Thursday morning and lasted through Saturday morning. While it is not unusual for it to snow in North Dakota, it was unusual for it to snow this early; the amount of snow was substantially more than normal; and the amount of time the storm remained in one place.  We averaged 30-50 mile winds and we received about 28 inches of snow. But we were fine and safe. In fact due to the strange wind patterns, the church and a couple trees acted as wind breaks – they stopped the wind, so the snow dropped around them rather than around the motorhome. So the motorhome was surrounded by a 5-10 foot clearance with only a ½ – 1 inch of ice; while the trees had 5-6 feet of snow around them. Climbing the corner of the neighbor’s house the drift reached the roof.

On October 13, 2019 we were scheduled to hold meetings in Carrington, North Dakota with Pastor Corey Pepple and his wife Annette.

Sunday services were not canceled, because we were there for the meetings.  Those who could get out and drive safely to the church came.  For Sunday School I presented my Creation versus Evolution seminar.  For the morning service I used ventriloquism and three object lessons to present the gospel and encourage the saints in there walk with the Lord.  After a fellowship dinner with pizza and chips, I finished my seminar that I started in the Sunday School hour.  Pastor helped me on Monday with our Aqua Hot heater that has not been working properly.  He figured out our problem and found that it was never set up right since we got the motorhome.  Now we are nice and warm and trust that it will keep working for us during the cold weather.  Please pray for pastor and his family as they serve the Lord in Carrington, North Dakota.

First Baptist Church

On October 6, 2019 we drove away from Upton, Wyoming and headed north for Baker, Montana.  First Baptist Church has been one of our supporting churches for the last 28 years.  It was good to see Pastor Levi again and his wife Tami.  Their oldest son is now studying at Cornerstone Bible Institute in Hot Springs, South Dakota.  It was good to catch up on our friends and family in the church and share with them a quick update on our ministry.  Sunday morning started with a whole family Sunday School with a story from Rodney and three object lessons to share the gospel.  For the morning service I preached from Daniel 3.  The morning service is broadcasted over the radio in three states: Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.  The services are well organized, and the gospel is getting into many homes.  Several families travel from their ranches over an hour to church and they always bring a lunch to eat at the church. For the afternoon service I used both Rawley and Randy to tell the story of Moses and the Burning Bush, Pastor Durfey shared a study on Moses’ call, and I answered questions regarding our ministry.

Please pray for Pastor Levi and the church family in Baker as they reach out to their community and the surrounding tri-state region.  Also pray for Noah as he continues his college education in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Osage Community Bible Church

On Sunday, September 29, I preached at the Osage Community Bible Church with a whole family Sunday School and a morning service. Then, September 30 – October 2, 2019, I was able to attend the Pastor’s Conference in the Northern Plains Independent Baptist Fellowship. First, I preached at First Baptist Church in Upton, Wyoming for the opening service for the Pastor’s Conference. I was also asked to preach again for the Pastor’s Conference at a hotel in Newcastle, Wyoming. [a few years ago, the only motel in Upton burnt down.] Next, Evangelist Randy Chovan and I presented trends that we see coming in our fundamental churches.

After the Conference, we traveled back to Rapid City to help my dad with a few small tasks to get the house ready to finish the ductwork and prepare the house for future drywall.  Please pray for my dad as he finishes his house and for the pastors in the Northern Plains.  Thanks for praying for the Silcott Ministries.
