Leon Bible Church

Rodeo at Leon, Iowa

The church in Leon, Iowa is still without a pastor, so I came on Sunday, July 3, and preached in the morning for Sunday School and morning service.  Sunday night I had a short Bible study so that we could take some time and pray for the Vacation Bible School.  On July 4th, I sat in the Leon Bible Church parade float with Rawley and promoted the Vacation Bible School that would start on Tuesday night and go through Saturday night with a closing program on Sunday night.  This was a whole family VBS that resulted in a great turn out for the week.

Each night I told a Bible story with one of my four friends and presented the gospel through object lessons with a surprise ending.  Then I led the adult class through the daily worksheet and quoting and listening to the memory verses for each day.  The church served a light meal for everyone and we closed with the missionary story told with flannel graph on the multimedia projector.   Please pray for the Leon Bible Church in Southern Iowa that they will soon find a pastor.

Camp Manitoumi

Saturday, July 16th, 2022

June 27 through July 1, 2022, I spoke at Camp Manitoumi in Lowpoint, Illinois.  Parents that attended camp years ago now send their children to camp to enjoy the stories from my friends and hear the gospel preached.  This week counselors and the Camp Dean attended Vacation Bible Schools and camps that I have preached at in the past.  I enjoyed working with those I have seen grow up in the Lord and keep serving the Lord today.  During the week I preached an evangelistic message in the evening and presented my seminar on what every camper should know about the Bible, Creation, Christ, and Suffering.

During the week campers enjoyed the swimming pool, recreation room, game time, the all famous zip-line back in the woods behind the camp, and last of all, the hay rack ride pulled by the camp tractor through the corn fields.  During the week I rejoice in the 8 campers who trusted Christ as their Savior, 3 that came forward for assurance, 1 that decided to get baptized and 3 that made the decision to live their lives for Christ.   Please pray for the camp and the remaining weeks for this busy summer.  Also pray for the boys and girls as they go back home to their families.

Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp

Saturday, July 9th, 2022

For the next two weeks, June 12 – 17, 2022 and June 19 – 24, 2022, I preached for Bible camp at Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp in Vanderwagen, New Mexico. Joseph Lee with Baptist Mid-Missions is the Camp director and pastor of the church, on the campgrounds near the Navajo Reservation.  The first week we had around thirteen teens that listened well and took part of all the activities throughout the week.  For Thursday noon they all dressed up in their best clothes for the banquet where they served two turkeys with all the Thanksgiving trimmings.

The second week we had four girls and eight boys for the three teams during the Jr. week of camp.  They all worked on my Bible workbook covering the eight Sons of Proverbs, starting with the Simple Son and ending with the Righteous Son.  This study seeks to encourage the campers to develop a desire to be a righteous son in a world of Foolish. The Girls team won for the week and got to enjoy a little treat after chapel on Thursday night.  Please pray for these boys and girls as they go home and face an ungodly world.

First Baptist Church

Saturday, July 9th, 2022

June 5 – 10, 2022, I held my first Daily Vacation Bible School for the summer in Ash Flat, Arkansas for Pastor Lyon Raby.  I have held meetings with Pastor Raby in Hardy, Arkansas and now he is the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Ash Flat.  They used our Racing Theme for the week and Randy, driving the Ford, won for the week.  Randy said that Ford stands for, “First on Race Day”.  Each day we had visitors with the church families faithfully attending each night.  My wife Jane would help me get out Randy when I want to get two out at the same time.  Because she is not always with me now, I must find someone who would be willing to help me.  Lynn, the pastor’s wife was willing to step up and help me with this important task.

We have friends that live in Cherokee Village who invited us out for lunch on Thursday.  The fellowship was great, and I was able to take a picture of the waterfalls in the middle of the village surrounded by several lakes in the midst of all the retirement homes.  Please pray for the two that trusted Christ as their Savior that they will keep coming to church and growing in their walk with the Lord.  Also pray for Pastor and his wife as they seek to reach the lost and feed the Saints in their area.
